Orkiestra Rozrywkowa PR i TV W Poznaniu - Dyskoteka 4 (1977)

now this was a long time coming. i've been a huge fan of Zbigniew Gorny since i first discovered him back when i was getting into library music. this is one of the few recordings i've never heard from him. finally one popped up online for purchase and i knew i had to get it. it's the PRiTV guys at their best! Gorny tracks are always amazing, 'Bliżej Siebie' and 'Fontanna' being the two best. tons of funky disco all over this thing. 'Senny Koszmar' might be my favourite of the tape. and the funkiness of  'Pokusa' gets you right away. you may recognize some of these from library releases, as some songs were later issued on Standard Music Library and Apollo Sound. i hope you enjoy this rare piece of polish funky disco history

Barry White - The Message Is Love (1978)

one of my favourite barry white records is a later one, The Message is Love. i mostly listen to love unlimited orchestra stuff, since his own albums are a little hit or miss with me cause of the ballads. the a-side to this one though is killer, starting with a bang, and ending with the best tune. amazing disco of course, 'Any Fool Could See (You Were Meant For Me)' is the absolute winner here. this is the tune i always come back to time and time again, unbeatable!

Any Fool Could See (You Were Meant For Me) and It Ain't Love, Babe (Until You Give It)

Denise LaSalle ‎- I'm So Hot (1980)

a top ten disco track for me right here. "I'm So Hot" is a perfect disco song, from the long building intro to the catchy pre-chorus to the insane strings. the vocals are amazing, the music is genius, it's just perfect. Denise had a lot of good songs, but nothing comes close to this one, and even the rest of this album feels like a letdown after you hear the first track. but again, doesn't even matter. Denise passed just a month ago now, blasting this in her honour, RIP.

The Raes - Dancing Up A Storm (1979)

this is one of my favourite disco records ever. it was put out and recorded in 1979, right around the corner from me here in Toronto. 6 of the 7 tracks are catchy uptempo disco. the opening track A Little Lovin' (Keeps The Doctor Away) was what really got me into this. i had heard the track and always kept an eye open for the record. Get Up And Dance is super catchy, second favourite track. my other favourite has to be Don't Make Waves, the strings on that one are insane. Boogie ShoesDon't Turn Around and School are all great uptempo disco cuts too. the slower Honest I Do is good enough for a mention here. the Raes actually had a show on CBC for a while too. here's a really great and fast live performance of Get Up And Dance from that show.

Barry White and Gene Page Instrumentals

i got a bundle of Barry White 7"s a few months ago now, just so i could get the instrumentals on the b-sides in high quality. i ripped them a while back and made a little instrumental compilation. it's not all the instrumentals obviously, but it's a good chunk of them. every single one of the tracks here absolutely kill, but my personal favourites are Under The Influence Of Love and Just A Little More Baby. what else can i say, Barry's probably my favourite musician of all time so this gets heavy play for me. don't have any of the picture sleeve versions, so i just took a big pic of the records together. early to mid 70s stuff here.
