Another Year

     nothing like a site with no updates for nearly two years, and nothing better than Rocky IV on christmas, the greatest film of all time. must have watched this thing a million times by now. never gets old, in fact it gets better every time i watch it. so many great tunes throughout, No Easy Way Out, Heart's On Fire, and Burning Heart. the next film Rocky V also has a stellar soundtrack, don't sleep on the new jack swing and hip-hop in that one. such a vast difference between this in 1985 and that in 1990. got to give it to Survivor though, the song they supplied would have fit perfectly on either of their classic AOR albums, favourites being "When Seconds Count" and "Vital Signs", though "Too Hot To Sleep" has it's moments too.

oh and i really want a pair of adrian's white sorels.

Selected Sound - Season Opening (1978)

     always love the Selected Sound library, as my past posts clearly show. this one comes from 1978, ST series number 113 titled "Season Opening". pretty solid record throughout, with the key standouts being Everblue and Hey My Boy. though Berry Lipman delivers the goods all over the place. of course you've got the theme to Sex World from the same year on here as well. enjoy the large pics too! i ripped this a while ago but for some reason i never shared it on the site, better late than never.

     with the recent aerobics discussion i'd been having, thought i'd throw up this old comp i made. it started out as a soundtrack to Eroticise, but as i was doing that the video got taken down before i had a chance to save it, and i never found another copy since. so then i just scrapped all the Network tracks and just made up my own listing. boogie-pop and funky-disco from around like '79 to '85. i've stripped the real names and composers, cause it's funnier that way. and of course i had to manipulate my own artwork as always. 30 minute workout!

Annica - Annica (1990)

     this is a special one for me, i'm always returning to this album. i found out about this by looking through japanese singles from '89. heard the opening track I Can't Deny A Broken Heart and was instantly hooked, just an outstanding tune. there's a nice remix of it at the end of the CD too. this thing's pretty damn great all the way through. hard to find as it was only released in japan, it's worth the slightly high price though. she had put out an impossible to find swedish-only CD prior to this too. luckily half of the tracks were ported over to this CD, with some of them having to be changed to english. anyway this thing whole thing is pure gold. decided to upload the last track, great album cut. when i went to take a picture of it with the christmas lights, i dropped the damn thing and the bottom hinge broke. oh well. i even made a shirt out of the cover, there's a picture of it at the bottom of the post.

Selected Sound - Romantic Moods (1980)

     another Selected Sound release for today, number 124 "Romantic Moods". i must admit that i bought this cause of the Lucky Simon pseudonym and the Gorny name alone, without really looking at what kind of tracks they actually were. was hoping the Gorny track would be upbeat, but it's not. some good laid bad grooves on here, can't say i'm crazy about the record though personally. i'm sure there's others out there that would appreciate this much more than me. though i do really like the two tracks Melancholy and Along The Coast. i remembered seeing this on Porn_Library's want list on the old library board (which kind of led me to want to buy this as well, haha). large pics in the zip as always.

Debbie Does 'em All (1984)

     the whole soundtrack is filled with short bursts of funk, 13 to be exact. well at least that's the amount of ones that were good enough for an mp3. here's the great opening theme. the original vocals are backed with an unknown library cut. there's another vocal disco tune in the middle of the film that straight up sounds like a commercial release, but it can't be. anyway, i was thinking this backing library track is either from '83 or '84 cause of its Madonna similarities. the instrumental version plays later in the film, but there's far too much "dialogue" over top of it. i was able to cut together the main parts from various points in the scene though, and it's great.

Coloursound - Colours (1984)

     this was a blind buy back in the day. i just saw PRiTV and had to snag it. turned into one of my favourite library records along the way. the polish guys at their best, as always. it's number 45 from the Coloursound label entitled "Colours". funk and disco as i'm sure you all know, since you probably have it already. i saw that there was a rip going around, but i never found a link for it to know what the quality was like. so i was ripping this for myself anyway, and figured i'd throw this classic up for anyone who wanted some high quality rips. there's large pics in the zip if nothing else. the Piotr Kaluzny songs on here kill, but my favourite tune has to be Yellow Funk. Porn_Library actually first turned me onto this track, since it was on one of his comps, though he gave it a different name so i didn't know at the time. this cover art is pretty great too.

Minako Tanaka - 君の瞳に優しく (1990)

 

     a japanese only release for today, got it for one yen on japanese amazon. rare and impossible to find over here, but i guess it's really common over there. she released a ton of records, this being the first in her discography. i had also forgotten how i had found out about this, until i put it on. i mean i read somewhere that it sounded like Stock Aitken Waterman and i was able to preview one great song, so that's why i bought it. but when i put it on, i was like, "hey! that's a Michael Jay track!" then i had remembered that i had seen that he was credited for one tune on the CD and that's how i found out about it. though there is another one of his songs that goes un-credited on here. one of his two songs, 真紅の共犯者, is actually a cover version of a tune that he gave to Alisha called Love Will Talk. anyway the whole CD is great, i was pleasantly surprised. and yeah, the case got smashed. stays together quite nicely when it's closed though.
